Actor Ryan O’Neal died on the age of 82, his son Patrick O’Neal confirmed. Patrick introduced his late father’s dying by way of Instagram on December 8.
“So, that is the hardest factor I’ve ever needed to say however right here we go,” Patrick wrote. “My dad handed away peacefully in the present day, along with his loving staff by his facet supporting him and loving him as he would us. Patrick continued his caption by calling the Golden Globe Award nominee was his “hero.”
“I appeared as much as him, and he was at all times greater than life,” Patrick continued. “After I was born in 1967, my dad was already a TV star on Peyton Place. That’s the place he met my mother, Leigh Taylor-Younger, and about 9 months later (give or take a date night time or two), I used to be born.”
Ryan and his ex-wife Leigh Taylor-Younger have been married from 1967 to 1974. Beforehand, the Los Angeles native was married to his first spouse, Joanna Moore, from 1963 to 1967. In 1979, Ryan started relationship his long-time love, Farrah Fawcett. They dated on and thru the Nineties and the early 2000s.
“My dad grew to become a global film star with Love Story in the beginning of the Seventies, a decade he completely crushed by starring in films like What’s Up, Doc?, Paper Moon, Barry Lyndon, A Bridge Too Far, The Major Occasion, and The Driver,” Patrick added in his caption. “He’s a Hollywood legend. Full cease.”
Patrick elaborated that the title Ryan “may be traced again to my dad.”
“He was Rodney Harrington on Peyton Place three days per week (he starred in 500 reveals over 5 years) after which, in fact, the title Ryan peaked after Love Story (the movie that saved Paramount Studios and earned my dad a Star on the Hollywood Stroll of Fame).”
