Solely the Robust Survive was collectively written by Butler Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. The music was the primary of two singles by Butler which have been gold licensed by the RIAA, promoting over 1,000,000 copies (the second was “Ain’t Understanding Mellow” in 1972).
Many covers of the music adopted: Elvis Presley (1969), Skeeter Davis (1969), Billy Paul (1977), Rod Stewart (2009) Larry Carlton (2010) and Bruce Springsteen (on his album of the identical title) (2022). Davis’s model appeared on her album Maryfrances, launched in August 1969, Presley’s model on his ” From Elvis in Memphis ” album launched in June 1969. Within the UK, Billy Paul’s model was launched on the Philadelphia Worldwide label (PIR 5699).
