Amy Winehouse biopic ‘Again To Black’ confirms launch date


The Amy Winehouse biopic Again To Black, starring Trade’s Marisa Abela because the late singer, has had its UK launch date formally confirmed.

Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the biopic will star Abela alongside Jack O’Connell as Amy’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, Eddie Marsan as her father Mitch, and Lesley Manville as her maternal grandmother.

And now, as confirmed on Abela’s Instagram account, it has been revealed that the movie will likely be launched into UK and Eire cinemas on April 12, 2024.

Taylor-Johnson has beforehand directed the John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy and the primary entry within the Fifty Shades of Gray franchise.

Matt Greenhalgh, who beforehand collaborated with Taylor-Johnson on Nowhere Boy, has written the script for Again To Black. Alison Owen, Debra Hayward and Nicky Kentish-Barnes function producers.

The movie, which has the approval of her property, will characteristic songs by Winehouse. “We’re thrilled that StudioCanal, Focus Options and Monumental are making this film celebrating our daughter Amy’s extraordinary music legacy and showcasing her expertise in the best way that it deserves,” an announcement learn.

Mitch stated he requested script adjustments to Taylor-Johnson over his portrayal, including: “I despatched the primary script again. It made me appear like a saint – like I needs to be knighted. It was an excessive amount of.”

In September, to mark what would have been Winehouse’s fortieth birthday, Fielder-Civil spoke about their relationship, which started in 2005 and lasted, on-off, for six years.
