For the previous two years, Kamar de los Reyes has been recurring on the CW’s flagship collection All American as Coach Montes, head coach at Coastal California College. He had been filming new episodes for the drama’s upcoming sixth season up till his dying Sunday on the age of 56 after a quick battle with most cancers.
Following the information of de los Reyes’ premature passing on Christmas Eve, All American govt producer and showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll shared her recollections working with the One Life to Stay alum.
“We’re completely devastated on the lack of Kamar,” she stated in a press release to Deadline. “He was such a beloved member of our All American household. He introduced a lot love, mild and pleasure to the set daily, even throughout his last days. We’re so grateful for each second he spent with us. Our hearts and honest condolences are with Sherri, Caylen, Michael, John and the remainder of Kamar’s household. Thanks for sharing him so generously with us and with the remainder of the world. He actually was a present. One we’ll cherish endlessly.”
De los Reyes is survived by his spouse, actress Sherri Saum; sons Caylen (26) and twins Michael and John (9); his brothers Daniel and Walfredo, Jr; his sisters Lily and Ilde; his mom Matilde and his father Walfredo.
