Ranbir Kapoor faces grievance for “Jai Mata Di” chant in viral Christmas video


A Mumbai resident filed a grievance towards Ranbir Kapoor and his household after a viral Christmas video did not sit effectively with them. The grievance, obtainable on-line, alleges that the Kapoors deliberately offended Hindu sentiments by pouring liquor on a cake and setting it on fireplace, and invoking Hindu deities throughout a non-Hindu competition.

As of now, no formal FIR has been filed, though the complainant seeks motion below sections 295(A), 298, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The person, represented by attorneys Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, claims that the video depicts Ranbir pouring liquor on a cake whereas saying “Jai Mata Di,” which, in accordance with Hindu practices, holds significance when invoking deities. The grievance means that the usage of intoxicants throughout a celebration of a unique religion, accompanied by the mantra, prompted offence and damage spiritual sentiments.
